Message from Quail Creek President - December 19th
Dear Residents,
I want to announce the vote count from the Christmas Party last night December 18th.  There were two By-Law additions to be voted on.  Article 6-3e was passed by a vote of 26 for and 2 against.  This By-Law secures our financial future and can be read in our December Newsletter.  Also Article 3-5 was approved unanimously with 28 votes cast in favor.  This By-Law will require that all directors will have to chair a committee to be reimbursed there dues for that year and that the officers will have to co-chair a committee as well as perform there regular duties.  These By-Laws can be read from our December Newsletter and will be added to the By-Laws of Quail Creek as soon as possible.

Message from Quail Creek President - December
Dear Residents,
I want to report to you that Quail Creek received a check today from our insurance company, State Farm, for hurricane Katrina damage.  After depreciation and deductibles ( we have a deductible for each the club house, the pool, and the Tennis Courts), our check was for $14,556.55.  I have provided the new board with information that may allow us to get more money for our swimming pool and the clubhouse roof.  I have also applied to FEMA recently with the hope of recouping  Federal dollars to help offset the cost of clean up of Quail Creek.  I have let the new 2006 Board of Directors know that they will have to pursue and follow up on the work that we have started and have done in order to gain more monies for Quail Creek.  Thank You,

     Alan Faneca,
     President QCPOA

Quail Creek Residents Save Money on
Hurricane Cleanup - October

Meadowbrook subdivision residents were assessed $500.00 per lot for clean up after Hurricane Katrina. Thankfully the Quail Creek board of directors did not have to do the same and the funds were available to clean up Quail Creek.  Click here to view a copy of Meadowbrook's announcement of their cleanup assessment.  See also: our need to cleanup.

Annual Members
Meeting

Annual Members Meeting on November 13th
There will be an Annual Members Meeting on Sunday November 13 th at 6 PM at the Club House.  At this meeting we will take nominations from the floor for officers and directors for the up coming 2006 year.  Due to Hurricane Katrina placing us about a month behind schedule, I will be asking for a waiver on the by-laws so we can find new officers for 2006.

Alan Faneca, President
Quail Creek Property Owners Association

Garbage Collection - October
Coastal (garbage collectors) is trying to return to a twice-a-week garbage collection, but for now garbage is only being collected on Monday.  Unfortunately, we cannot demand regular service from Coastal because our contract states that service can be altered if  "...contractor [Coastal] reasonably determines that an exception is necessary in order to complete collection due to unusual circumstances, such as tropical storms and hurricanes."  Alan Faneca, Quail Creek President, will continue to monitor this situation and communicate with Coastal.

Special Meeting on November 10th - Updated
Due to the need to stay within the bylaws, the meeting time has changed to November 10th at 7 pm at the Club House.

More information:
1. A decision will be made to the reinstatement of the suspended directors.
2. The expenditures for Hurricane Katrina cleanup that are in question will be resolved.

Chris Cangelosi scored the first touchdown for our new junior high school, Monteleon Junior High, against Prichard Junior High last night.  Chris scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, however Prichard won 12 to 7.  We can only be proud of our children and their new school.  Go Monteleon!  If anyone has a GOOD NEWS story to share with us, please let us know.

Message from the Quail Creek President - October 3rd
A FEMA contractor came to Quail Creek on October 2nd to begin picking up debris.  I will keep you posted of any information or changes that I receive in regards to this issue.

Message from the Quail Creek President - September 27th
FEMA is supposed to pick up all residents' debris, but from what I have learned, it could be a few months before that is done: possibly November or December.  Instead of waiting, we could do a mass clean up of Quail Creek, but that would be very expensive, so an assessment would be needed with approval by 51% of homeowners.  FEMA would  probably reimburse us, but that could take months.  So my suggestion is, if you are able to have someone pick up your debris, please do so.  Most insurance companies reimburse up to $500.00 dollars for that (please check with your agent to be sure).  I have had many calls and e-mails about this issue; concerns over how the dry debris could promote a fire and how unpleasant the debris looks and smells.  So residents of Quail Creek, I leave this issue up to you to resolve in a way that suites your needs.  I will keep you posted as to any new information that I may receive.

Alan Faneca, President
QCPOA

Attention All Residents - September 20th Announcements
It looks like our new pool will need to be re-plastered again.  Some stains are not coming out.  We hope to have the pool up and running by late this weekend, 9/24 or 9/25.  We need help later in the week to put out the furniture and to power wash the pool deck.  Any volunteers??  Call Alan Faneca: 624-5197 or 259-1899.

Clean up of Quail Creek is going very well.  Thank to Genell Zacharenko, Head of Landscaping for Quail Creek; she has worked very hard for us this year and has accomplished so much.  If you know of any area's that we may have missed,  please let us know.

Joe Impastato, one of our councilmen, said he would get the trash dump container gone from Quail Creel by 9/20 or 9/21.

Attention All Residents - September 15th Announcements
There is no charge for a one-month supply of prescriptions at our local pharmacy - FEMA is providing funding.

Please do not put trash on the ground around the trash receptacle on Sycamore at the south entrance.  The trash receptacle is full, and Coastal will bring another receptacle soon.  Thanks.

We have started cleanup at the Club House and the main entrance.  We will clean the pool in a day or two, and it can be used in about a week.  We want you to use the pool to help you relax and take your mind off the hurricane damage.  Please stop by for a while and return the normalcy to your life.

Volunteers are needed to help assess the damage in Quail Creek.  This involves helping us direct our insurance adjuster to problem areas.  To volunteer, call Quail Creek President Alan Faneca at 259-1899 or visit his house on 1909 Marlin Drive.

Volunteers are needed to help secure tarps to the top of the Club House.  Tarps will be provided by the parish.  Call Alan Faneca at 259-1899.

Attention Elderly, Disabled, and Special Medical Needs Residents - September

Quail Creek Hurricane Damage Photos - September

Some images were taken from Alan Faneca's house looking out the window during the peek of the storm.  Others were taken during the back side of the storm.  The streets with water were QC South, Sycamore, State, and Palmer.  The morning after the storm, the water was gone.  No water appeared to get in any homes.  Click here to view.

You May Return Home from Evacuation - September

Quail Creek power has been restored, but the water is still not potable - water must be boiled prior to drinking.  Sewerage does work, so toilets and bathtubs are useable.  There is no phone service yet.  Some stores are open for several hours at a time along with some gas stations.

President Alan Faneca is returning to Quail Creek.  He can be reached by cell phone (985) 259-1899 or by visiting his house on 1909 Marlin Drive.

Nominations for Quail Creek officers may be cancelled this Sunday, but we will still be meeting at the Club House 6pm to discuss the storm and clean up.

Officially, St. Tammany residents can return on 9/9/2005 at 8am.

Hurricane Update - September

Power could be restored to Quail Creek as early as this weekend.  Eighty percent of our roads are passable.  There is some standing water and sewerage.  Residents can probably return to Quail Creek within two weeks, but please wait for the official word from parish authorities.  THE PARISH PRESIDENT ASKS THAT YOU STAY PUT while they restore the infrastructure.  The parish president says not to worry about looting because there is a sizeable National Guard presence in St. Tammany.

Hurricane Update from the Quail Creek President -
     September

Quail Creek residents, I spoke with Marty Gould today.  He is operating through the crisis center for St. Tammany.  He has told me that things will look differently in St. Tammany forever.  At this time there is no water, electricity or sewer.  Some services have been restored in some areas of the parish.  There are 500 National Guard and extra police are on their way for St. Tammany parish.  Marty told me 1088 is not passable and they would try to start clearing it out in the next day or two.  Marty also told me he would go to Quail Creek today and look around as he has not made it over there yet.  Slidell was hit the hardest.  I will be in touch with Marty in the next day or two, as he will be checking with Cleco and Washington St. Tammany  on when power will be restored to Quail Creek.  As of this time it could be at least another week or two before this happens.  Any resident of Quail Creek that is in need of a place to stay for a short time until Quail Creek can support life are welcome up here.  I would also like to ask all Quail Creek residents to do the same if there situation will allow it.  I will ask Chris Sommers, the webmaster, to post any information that can be of any help or offer any assistance to our residents.  Quail Creek has fared very well with this storm compared to all that we see in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.  When it is safe to return to Quail Creek and life can be supported with the basic services, we will begin the task of cleaning up and rebuilding for our future.  I am so thankful that most residents evacuated and my prayer is that all and their families are well and safe.  If I am needed by anyone please call me at (931) 379-5450.

Sincerely,
Alan Faneca, President

Special Meeting on September 11th - August

President Alan Faneca is calling a special meeting for September 11th at 6pm at the Club House.  The purpose of this meeting is to get nominations for Officers and Directors for the 2006 year.  Elections will be on October 16th at the Annual Members Meeting.  Everyone should consider serving Quail Creek.

NEIGHBORHOOD

WATCH

Neighborhood Watch Program - August

In past years we had a very active Neighborhood Watch Program and large involvement in our Night Out Against Crime.  In recent years we have seen participation die off and our Neighborhood Watch Program is non-existent. Your involvement is needed to have a successful program, and we just can’t sit back and hope someone else does the work.  Last night, August 15th, there were about a dozen burglaries on Neva Ct, Palmer and Sycamore.  Cars and homes were broken into.  Cell phones, wallets and miscellaneous items were taken.  Some residents were a sleep in their bed while someone went through their things. Please remember to lock your car and always close your garage before you go to bed.  Times are changing here on the North Shore including here in Quail Creek.  After speaking with the Sheriff who helped start the program here, we will be putting The Neighborhood Watch Program back in Quail Creek.  Allison Leachman, 1834 Neva Ct. has offered to chair this program and is looking for your help. If you are a Block Captain this is a good issue for you to be a part of.  And if your block does not have a Captain - and there are many that don’t - step up and help make a difference.  This is your community, you and your family live here. This is your home.  At the Special Meeting on September 11th we will be talking about crime and what is going on in Quail Creek and signing residents up to be a part of The Neighborhood Watch Program.  I will also be talking with the Sheriff’s office about having a speaker attend this meeting.  So give Allison Leachman a call at 674-2401 to offer your help. And we’ll see all of you on September 11th.

Quail Creek is offering a reward of $ 500.00 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or person’s involved in the crime above.

Thank you for your expected interest,
Alan Faneca, President QCPOA

A Message from the Quail Creek President
     on Vandalism - July

This summer has had its share of problems around the pool and club house.  In early June we found chunks of concrete in the filter baskets in the pump house.  The concrete was blocking the flow of pool water from the pool into our filter system.  This was done to both pumps and was not an accident.  Fortunately we found it in time, before the pumps burned out.  We have fixed that problem by installing a new lock system on the pump house.

The latest problem happen yesterday, July 26th.  I apologize for having to describe what has occurred, but I feel it is important for all to know what we are facing these days in Quail Creek.  Someone intentionally took their feces and spread it throughout the men's bathroom.  I had to hose down the room and scrub until it was all gone.  This description does not do justice for what I saw and had to clean up.

Parents, I ask you to speak with your children about the seriousness of vandalism or all of Quail Creek will suffer.  Let's work together to solve this problem before things get to out of hand.

Sincerely,
Alan Faneca

Important Notice Concerning the Pool - May

At our General meeting this past Thursday, May 5, 2005, Dave from Dawn's Pool Service gave a presentation on converting from a Chlorine to a Salt Pool Purification System.  Dawn's Pool Service has been servicing the Quail Creek pool since Quail Creek began.  Dave is very experienced, knowledgeable and knows our needs and our pool. Dave pointed out all the positives aspects of converting - it's better for you  in a healthy way, easy to work with, and he also pointed out the savings it will bring to Quail Creek. Members present were very impressed and asked many questions.  The membership voted to convert. I know most people do not like change, but we are asking everyone to give it a fair chance.  I have posted some information at the pool with flyers for you to read.  I am also placing some links with this notice so you may get more familiar with Salt Purification.  If there are any questions please feel free to contact the pool committee or any Board member.

Respectfully,
Alan Faneca

Improvements to Highway 1088 Entrance - January

The Highway 1088 entrance to Quail Creek has been renovated.  The highway is now more visible to drivers exiting the subdivision - this was a big safety concern with the prior “hedge” configuration of the entrance.  With this entrance being renovated, two of the three entrances into Quail Creek have the same updated landscaping theme as the Clubhouse.  The final entrance to Quail Creek South is on the schedule for completion within the next month.
